My approach is based on a balance between acceptance and change. It is my belief that, at out core, we are all basically fine just as we are, but that we often have thoughts and actions that don’t serve us. Trauma (both large and small), past relationship difficulties, and difficult childhoods can all contribute to the development of thinking and behavioral patterns that make it difficult to thrive, and can lower our resilience to life. Together we will explore what needs updating, while working on increasing self-acceptance and self-compassion. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (License no. MFC 98050) based in our Burbank office. I hold a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles. My training and experience includes work with adults, couples, and teens. I also have extensive experience mindfulness based groups. In particular I work well with those who struggle with emotional sensitivity, and find themselves using food, perfectionism, or unhealthy relationships to soothe or avoid emotions. Additional areas of specialization are social anxiety, general anxiety, depression, chronic shame, body image issues, trauma, and relationship difficulties. I operate from a person centered humanistic perspective. That means I offer a non-judgemental safe place to work on issues that don’t always feel so safe, and use warmth and humor to assist the process. Additionally I employ a variety of strategies with strong evidence bases to support you in your healing process. These strategies include mindfulness training, self-compassion work, attachment work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, exposure therapy, and EMDR therapy. Everyone is a little different, together we will explore what works for you!
