Isn’t it time to put your dreams in motion…
Considering private practice?
Many new clinicians upon completing a Master’s or Ph.D. program decide they want to go into private practice. However, most don’t know how to get started.
- Do you remember any of your classes teaching you the basics of running a small business like how do you lease office space?
- How do you market yourself? Should I have a specialty?
- What happens if I have a crisis case and who do I consult with?
- How do I get on insurance panels?
- …and many other questions that go along with starting on your own.
Are You Private Practice Minded?
What exactly do I mean “private practice minded” you ask? Well, putting this group practice together didn’t happen overnight. I went through a lot of trial and error. Many times hiring people and then 3-6 months later having them quit because they found another job never communicating to me that they were on their way out; turning back to the stability that DMH work offers; a regular paycheck; health insurance; and a routinized schedule. Some people rely heavily and thrive on this type of work environment but this is not the framework for private practice. This is how I discovered the concept of being “private practice minded”
which basically consists of the following qualities:
Patience and Foresight
Passion and Commitment
A strong work ethic
The best part…I love my job!!!!!!!! How many people can truly say that? Every day I look forward to seeing clients, working with colleagues, brain-storming new marketing ideas, building the group in new and different ways and mostly watching my colleague’s excitement as they thrive in their practices. My grandfather told me many years ago you have to have a vision; a very, very detailed vision of what you want. Once you have that, it’s almost as if the path is laid in front of you. It took me some time to get that vision focused but once I did everything seemed to come together. Soultenders is the result of that vision and if you find yourself saying, “Yes! I’m a private practice minded person” then we want you. Come interview with us and see if we are a good match.
We are doing amazing things and looking for amazing people!
