There is a deep desire within us to live a fulfilling life and to maintain healthy, satisfying relationships. But all too often life brings along difficult situations that overwhelm us and leave us feeling anxious and depressed. It could be something that had happened in our past that was traumatic for us. Perhaps you have been hurt by a family member, friend, or your spouse, and the emotional pain you feel is very deep. Perhaps you have experienced the loss of a loved one through death, illness, or separation. Or, maybe you are experiencing intense fear and anxiety, which is affecting your ability to live your life to the fullest. Whatever your story is, I am here to provide you with a safe, warm, and non-judgmental space for you to be heard. I will work to support you in your healing and recovery process.
I have over seven years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have helped people with a broad range of issues, including relationship issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, and grief/bereavement. I enjoy helping children and teens overcome life challenges so they can become socially and emotionally healthy. I work with parents to build on strengths, learn effective parenting skills, and improve the quality of their interactions with their children. I also have a special interest in working with engaged and married couples. Using tools from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy, I help couples learn how to communicate better, resolve conflicts, and be on the same team. I am client-centered in my treatment approach. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my work with clients. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), which is an effective approach in treating PTSD/trauma, anxiety, sexual abuse, grief, and addictions.
I hold an MDiv and MA in Marriage and Family Counseling from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (License # 84808) with the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences, and am a clinical member of the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists (CAMFT). I am a full member of the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).
