Nadja Catano
MFT Intern

As a Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Intern, IMF #70500, under the supervision of Dr. Wendy L. Selevitch, PhD, MFT, PSY22818, MFC #38430, I utilize a client-centered, strengths-based, emotion-focused approach. I bring an awareness of cultural diversity, familiarity with substance abuse and recovery issues, and practical knowledge of early child development and attachment theory. Babies and breastfeeding/chestfeeding are always welcome during counseling sessions.

I trained at an agency counseling school-age children, families, and pregnant teens. I have counseled individuals, couples, and facilitated family groups at a women’s treatment center, working with co-occurring disorders, boundaries and family dynamics in addictions. My experience with infants and preschool children at a center facilitating an emergent curriculum and practicing nonviolent communication skills and my decades of work with mothers as a community breastfeeding counselor have developed my passionate interest in prenatal reflective parenting, mindful parenting, and assisting individuals, couples, and families as they confront perinatal issues.

I graduated with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Oaks College. I am a member of San Gabriel Valley California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (SGVCAMFT), California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), United States Lactation Consultants Association (USLCA), International Lactation Consultants Association (ILCA), and La Leche League International (LLLI).
