I am fascinated by human resilience. I have always admired our individual abilities to discover and harness our inner resources of strength in seemingly overwhelming and incapacitating circumstances. I admire the strength and self-awareness evident in the simple act of making a phone call to seek help. As a therapist, I feel honored to be a facilitator for and a witness to these events. I believe my clients are the experts in their own lives and that they have the knowledge and capacity to find their own solutions to their problems and better outcomes for their lives. Sometimes that knowledge is buried under years and layers of unsuccessful attempts to “avoid the problem” or “fix the problem” or the knowledge is masked by painful alternative stories that only serve to undermine my clients’ self-esteem and self-efficacy. In conversations with my clients, I work with them to help peel back those painful layers so that they can get a glimpse of their strengths, new possibilities and alternative paths towards their goals.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (see my qualifications below) and I work with children and adults struggling with relational challenges, difficult life transitions, depression, anxiety and trauma. I have worked extensively with children and adults overwhelmed by PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and trauma-related symptoms stemming from histories of abuse and neglect. My work has also included grief counseling, helping clients to rebuild their lives after painful life experiences and working with clients who struggle with anxiety-related issues and fears on a daily basis.

I am a collaborative therapist. My goal is to create a supportive, non-judging environment for my clients where they can safely explore personal life challenges. I honor and value my clients’ beliefs and ideas and work in partnership with them to help them to harness their capacity for resilience and enable their emotional evolution as they move toward their desired personal and relational goals.,/p>

Sometimes just asking a different question can help us to see an alternative answer.
