Learn more about Victor Huynh, Director of Ready Artwork
Can you tell us about your background and what led you into this profession?
“Born in San Diego in a family of refugees. (Vietnam) My Grandparents also fled war WW2 from China to Vietnam. My parents were not highly educated and spoke very little english when they arrived. Grew up on Foodstamps. With what little they had, they still prioritized education. I actually went to Chinese school every weekend for 5 years. When it came to public school, I pretty much had to figure things out on my own. As a kid, I started working with my parents, my dad was a handyman and mom worked from home sewing clothes commercially. Once I turned 16, I started working to pay for expenses at home, been working since. For college, my parents never forced me into a specific profession. It was just expected that I would get some kind of degree. I fell into Graphic Design because my language and art skills were a lot more proficient than my math skills. I started taking on freelance projects and that grew into an agency over the last 20 years which evolved from Print Design to Web Design to Digital Marketing.”
What drives Victor professionally and personally?
“I like problem solving, learning, and winning. When I figure out to do something different, that excites me and gives me energy. I am also a creature of habit, so I have to force myself out of my comfort zone by committing to things that I have no way of backing out of, which then forces me to get better at it.”
