Bio:
Janee Both Gragg is a Professor at the University of Redlands and Chair of the Department of Counseling and Human Services with a passion for preparing counseling students to become social justice advocates. While empowering them to combat the many faces of mental health discrimination much of her research has focused on 1) therapeutic engagement of diverse communities 2) demonstrating the importance of school-based mental health; and 3) advancing the integration of mental health service delivery across settings. Janee utilizes the counselor-advocate-scholar model (Ratts & Pederson, 2014) as an approach to advancing health equity, and maximizing the synergy between community-based learning, mental health advocacy, and the scholarship of engagement.
She founded and currently serves as CEO of the Alliance for Community Transformation and Wellness (ACTW) which was funded by the California Mental Health Services Administration to raise mental health awareness in the region. Most recently her work has explored mental health and workforce wellbeing in higher education. In 2017 she co-created the Inland Empire’s Vibe Health and Wellness Festival to increase community knowledge about the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration’s 8 Dimensions of Wellness.
In 2016 Janee served as President for the Board of the California Association of Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors. Get to Know Kevin Horan:

Can you tell us about your background and what led you into this profession?
I started out in higher education working in Student Services. My first full-time position post graduate school was as the Director of Residence Life at Holy Names College in Oakland, CA. Throughout my career I have always said yes to the jobs nobody wanted, or maybe the jobs others didn’t see as prestigious. As a result, I quickly was exposed to the comprehensive business of higher education. I have worked at Private and Public Universities, but the majority of my career (19 years) has been in the California Community College system. I have served as President of Crafton Hills College since January 2019.
What drives you professionally and personally?
I am not a good person to just be a cog in a wheel. I am driven by transformational change. One of the things that drew me to that first job at Holy Names College was a line in the job description that jumped out at me. It was unusual and ended really describing the nature of the job. There was a line under the Desirable Qualifications that stated, “Tolerance for ambiguity.” I am also somewhat competitive, mostly with myself.
What are your 5 core values?
Family, perseverance, honesty/integrity, always learning….struggling for a 5th one.
What motivates you?
Meaningful work/impact. Being outside/active. Learning about new things.
