About
We can all use a little support sometimes, a fresh perspective, new tools to cope.
Life can feel overwhelming, and we don’t always understand why. Sometimes everything seems to be going our way and yet happiness and tranquility are elusive. We all deserve to reach our full potential but sometimes we hit barriers that get in our way.
I am dedicated to helping you reach your goals and gain insight to remove barriers that are holding you back. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families. In my work, I appreciate the uniqueness of each person when identifying an appropriate treatment plan and use a strength-based approach.
When working with youth, I also engage the family and help parents learn strategies tailored to their child’s needs. I have often worked with parents who find themselves at a loss when trying to manage and understand their children’s behavior and emotions, leading to a more positive and healthier parent/child relationship.
I am informed by a cognitive-behavioral approach though interweave other approaches based on an individual’s needs. I am trained in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I have experience in several areas including, working with anxiety, depression, children/adolescents, adjustment issues/life transitions and trauma.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist. I earned a bachelor’s degree at UCLA majoring in psychology and minoring in Chicano Studies and Applied Developmental Psychology. I earned my master’s degree and my doctorate at Washington State University. I completed my internship and a postdoctoral fellowship working with children, adolescents and their families at The Help Group.
My identity as a Latina has made me sensitive to diversity issues that can impact our mental health. I am bilingual in English and Spanish, and this has allowed me the opportunity to provide services to Spanish-speaking individuals in the language that they feel most comfortable discussing their emotions and daily challenges.
