About
“Life is tough, my darling, but so are you.” -Stephanie Bennett Henry
I am amazed at the resilience of the human race. We are incredible beings that learn to adapt, resolve, and persevere regardless of what is thrown at us. It’s just that, sometimes we need a little help in the process.
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a little over 19 years of experience providing mental health services to a variety of populations, ranging from young children to older adults. While I have a wide array of experience working with different populations, my specialty is working with children, pre-adolescents, teenage girls, and women.
I have experience working with people struggling with behavioral issues, suicidal attempts and ideation, Attention-Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities, and Bipolar Disorder. I have experience with grief and loss. I am also a trauma informed therapist and have experience guiding those who are suffering from trauma towards healing.
I work with individuals that are part of the LGBTQ+ population, of which I am a part of. I see myself as an advocate and activist for all underrepresented populations.
I believe relationships are the most powerful tool we can use for change and healing. I am an eclectic therapist, meaning I use various theoretical techniques in my approach because I believe in using what works best for each individual. However, I primarily identify with a person-centered theoretical approach because I believe that supportive and empathetic understanding fosters growth and healing. Other theoretical approaches I glean from include play therapy, motivational interviewing, attachment therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
Thank you for taking time to get to know a little bit about me and my approach. If you would like to meet with me, I would be honored to have the privilege of working alongside with you.
