About
I support folks who don't feel safe and supported by their families.
Buenas! I'm Violetta and my pronouns are she/they. Welcome to my bio. I’m a Spanglish speaking, Mexican American, LCSW therapist that works with clients in California and Texas. I support folks who don't feel safe and supported by their families. This includes non biological family members. I personally have been disowned and no contact with my family for the past 5 years. My experience inspires my work to support BIPOC and/or Queer family members that struggle with the shame and guilt of not having a close relationship with family.
During our time together you can expect to feel supported, develop insight, and gain strategies to move forward. This includes:
1. Identifying a healthy level of contact with family members, including low to no contact to reconciliation. You will decide what is best for your situation.
2. Increasing emotional awareness specifically about guilt, shame, & grief.
3. Challenging societal & cultural beliefs about family that conflict with your personal values.
4. Developing exit & safety plans for family gatherings including holidays.
5. Recognizing patterns of family violence & neglect to foster healthier relationships.
6. Learning conflict resolution skills & assertiveness to improve communication & reduce escalation.
Tools used in sessions include psychoeducation, Inner Child Healing, and focused mindfulness, also known as Brainspotting. Brainspotting helps to identify, process, and release unresolved trauma from the body and brain.
Outside of being a therapist, I'm also an aqua fitness instructor and love making wreaths! I'm a former teen mom and absolutely love spending time with my daughter. I earned my Bachelor’s in Social Work in 2013 and my Master’s in Social Work in 2014 from Our Lady of the Lake University, in San Antonio, Texas. I welcome you to share your journey with me.
